When Hercule Poirot hears Mrs. Paget’s eerie nursery rhyme about three sisters—Maud, Milly, and Mavis—he is amused, until one sister mysteriously disappears. Shortly thereafter, Milly is found dead under baffling circumstances, the haunting refrain of the “three little pigs” echoing in Poirot’s mind. As the third sister grows increasingly fearful, Poirot senses a chilling pattern unfolding straight from childhood verses. With his famed “little grey cells,” he pieces together the cryptic clues hidden in the rhyme itself. In a tense, final confrontation, Poirot exposes the murderer’s twisted motive and proves that the most innocuous nursery rhyme can conceal the deadliest of designs.
