In the summer of 1989, in suburban Melbourne’s idyllic Camp Hill, teenager Tracie Reed goes missing—and whispers of Satanic rituals begin to surface. Schoolteacher Tom Witter, whose home borders the overgrown local “Wild Place,” becomes convinced the police have prematurely labeled Tracie a runaway. Frustrated by authorities, he teams up with Tracie’s father and a neighborhood watch group to launch his own investigation. Beneath the tranquil veneer, dark family secrets, suburb-wide paranoia, and violence begin to unravel the community. As truths are exposed, Tom learns that escaping the darkness may require walking through it.
